- Opportunities to invite others to join you in this practice:
- Create a gratitude centerpiece. The example shared on the link posted below is fall-themed, but with some creativity, I can envision how this could be transformed to align with the decor of the current physical season. Have fun with it and make it your own.
- Start a gratitude jar. Get a mason jar or similar container and begin collecting blessings written on slips of paper. Anyone who enters your home or office could be invited to join. Click on this hyperlink for one such example.
- Want the same vibe, but something a bit more visible? Create a gratitude garland or blessings chain. Cut slips of colored paper, write blessings on the slips of paper, and start building your garland or chain. Watch it grow.
- Create a new habit of sharing what you’re thankful for – our family chooses to do this right after we say our bedtime prayer together. We just go around – youngest to oldest – and share what we’re thankful for. This could also be easily incorporated at a mealtime, while commuting to school, work, extracurricular activities, or home – whenever works for you and the people you are wanting to join you in this exercise is the best time.
- Another really great way to infuse gratitude into our lives is through service. As the definition suggests, gratitude is not merely being thankful or showing appreciation, but it is also about returning kindness. Our posture immediately shifts to one of gratitude when we position ourselves to be in service to others. So, how can we make a positive difference in the lives of others today?
